Native Torontonian Jennifer Abadesso brings her music to Portugal no Coração this past month, September 28 & 29th, 2006. Jennifer has spent several years singing in the Portuguese community in Toronto, as well as performing in Portugal, most notably in Acores. She has devoted her time to humanitarian causes (see article below) and her latest endeavour entitled "This Time" was in response to her father's adversities with cancer. Whereby 100% of the proceeds went to the Canadian Cancer Society. Performing twice on the popular RTP program, broadcast to millions worldwide, Jennifer performed three songs on two subsequent episodes, as well as had the privilege of being interviewed by presenters Cristina Alves & Júlio Isidro. CANADIAN CANCER NEWSLETTER -- Singer honours father Jennifer Abadesso is a young university student whose father is currently battling cancer. Jennifer is also a talented singer and she decided that she would like to raise money for the Canadian Cancer Society. She recorded a CD and has donated all the proceeds. To date she has raised approximately $1500. Jennifer volunteered to sing a song she had written in honour of her father at the Relay For Life Survivors' Reception. The song, titled "This Time," was very moving, and watching Jennifer's father giving her a hug when she had finished singing was a very touching experience for everyone. Native and photographer Richard J. Adkin, of Radkin Photography, brings his “Rain in Portugal” Limited Edition Collection to Toronto this November. Richard J. Adkin has spent the past decade living and working in Europe. His work is renowned for extreme saturated colours, contrast and a unique artistic perception of contemporary themes and social issues. Richard’s work won a place in the 'Portrait' category of this year's Applied Arts Magazine's Photography/Illustration Annual. This September Richard worked on photography (post production) for the upcoming Steven Spielberg film. Presently in Hungary, Richard is promoting sport and youth through photography with the Hungarian Ice Hockey Federation. The Rain in Portugal exhibit, run from November 23 – December 17, is a series of 10 photos taken on a journey to the western-most point of Europe, near Lisbon, Portugal. Radkin invited local singer Jennifer Abadesso to perform two songs at the gallery opening.
